Albuquerque, NM – Attorney General Hector Balderas announced this morning that New Mexico joined an amicus brief in the Henson v. Santander Consumer USA case which is currently before the U.S. Supreme Court. The case involves the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act’s protections against abusive debt collection practices. The attorney general joined the brief in an effort to reign in unscrupulous, harassing and abusive debt collectors that harm New Mexico consumers.
