CHARLESTON, WV – Gov. Jim Justice announced today that he will be supplying the necessary funding to keep the West Virginia Women’s Commission running.

The commission is under the direction of the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. The Governor has made available $150,000 from the DHHR budget to fund the Women’s Commission immediately.

“Our Women’s Commission is such an important advocacy group for our state,” said Gov. Justice. “I am proud to be able to secure the funding they need to continue their great work in helping empower women and young ladies in West Virginia.”

The Women’s Commission works to advance the economic status, health, safety, education, leadership, and advocacy of West Virginia women. They work with non-profit groups to develop statewide awareness, sponsor workshops, and promote the empowerment and equality of all West Virginia women.
