Richmond Hill, Ontario, 9 November 2020 — The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) continues its investigation (R19T0107) into the 28 June 2019 Canadian National freight train derailment near Sarnia, Ontario. The TSB has provided additional information concerning the progress of the investigation. The update also includes four rail safety advisory letters (RSA 08/19, RSA 09/19, RSA 06/20, and RSA 07/20) issued during the course of this investigation.

The TSB is an independent agency that investigates marine, pipeline, railway and aviation transportation occurrences. Its sole aim is the advancement of transportation safety. It is not the function of the Board to assign fault or determine civil or criminal liability.
