Press Release

HARRISBURG—Attorney General Josh Shapiro today announced the arrest of a Cambria County man charged with the May 1, 2017, shooting death of Barron Grumbling.

“Today, Mizzon Grandinetti has been charged for the murder of Barron Grumbling, whom he allegedly shot at close range on the street based on testimony heard from an eyewitness,” said Attorney General Shapiro. “At the recommendation of the 46th Statewide  Investigating Grand Jury, he has been charged with first degree murder.”

Grandinetti is currently serving a four-year sentence at SCI Benner in Centre County. The Office of Attorney General said Grandinetti was served Thursday afternoon by SCI personnel and charged with murder of the first degree. Grandinetti will be charged as an adult even though he would have been a juvenile at the time of the shooting.

The Cambria County District Attorney’s Office sought the assistance of the Office of Attorney General with the use of the Investigating Grand Jury and other law enforcement tools.

The Statewide Investigating Grand Jury heard testimony that the victim was killed as revenge for a theft from a member of Mizzon’s family.

As the defendant is currently incarcerated, the preliminary arraignment will likely take place via video at a later date.

This case is being prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Michael Madeira with the assistance of the Cambria County District Attorney’s Office. All charges discussed are accusations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
