The Boston hospitality industry is the third largest industry in the City of Boston, employing tens of thousands of Boston residents. This week, the City Council adopted a resolution in support of Marriot Copley workers and support of a statewide “Right to Recall” for Boston Hotel Workers.
Recently, the Marriott Hotel in Copley Square permanently eliminated 231 employees, offering them little severance. A state law allowing cities and towns to adopt a “Right to Recall” ordinance would allow for workers to be recalled to their job within a two year period of being laid off.
