[ST. PAUL, MN] – Governor Tim Walz today released the following statement after receiving a letter led by the People of Color and Indigenous (POCI) Caucus of the Minnesota Senate, which outlined a plan to pass police reform quickly and independently from other bills.

“This morning I received a letter led by the Senate People of Color and Indigenous Caucus, outlining a timeline to pass meaningful police reform by the end of the legislative session. The plan would bring transparency, accessibility, and urgency to the effort to act on police reform in Minnesota.”

“I stand with the POCI Caucus in full support of this bill. I urge Republicans in the legislature to put politics aside to pass these much-needed reforms on their own, independent from unrelated bills.”
