United States Agency for International Development Administrator Samantha Power met this week with the Honorable Marta Lucía Ramírez, Vice President and Foreign Minister of Colombia.
Administrator Power congratulated Vice President Ramírez on her recent appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs. She underscored USAID’s commitment to working with the people and government of Colombia as they fight the COVID-19 pandemic; reactivate the economy and create jobs; and address challenges that have contributed to widespread civil unrest amidst troubling reports of police violence. The Administrator also outlined that USAID remains committed to helping support reconciliation and human rights. Administrator Power commended Colombia for its bold leadership in welcoming and integrating Venezuelans and discussed how the U.S. government could better support these efforts. Administrator Power also reiterated the United States’ deep and long standing friendship and partnership with Colombia.
