Early this morning, Falfurrias Border Patrol Station agents received a call from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) regarding a major accident south of the Falfurrias Border Patrol Checkpoint near Encino, Texas. In addition to assisting our local community, RGV agents rescued 17 migrants throughout the Rio Grande Valley this weekend. Agents have encountered many distressed migrants who were abandoned by smugglers during their smuggling attempt. Migrants are left behind in desolate areas when they are unable to keep up with the rest of the group. RGV Sector urges the public not to jeopardize their lives by illegally entering the United States.
