Today, Governor Roy Cooper signed the following bills into law:

Governor Cooper made the following statement on HB 608:

“This legislation takes important steps to protect women who are incarcerated during and after pregnancy and labor.” 

Governor Cooper made the following statement on HB 769:

“This legislation strengthens parent-child bonds and makes improvements to our foster care systems so all children can grow up in a safe and supportive environment.” 

Governor Cooper also vetoed the following bills:

Governor Cooper made the following statement on HB 805:

“People who commit crimes during riots and at other times should be prosecuted and our laws provide for that, but this legislation is unnecessary and is intended to intimidate and deter people from exercising their constitutional rights to peacefully protest.”

Governor Cooper made the following statement on HB 324:

“The legislature should be focused on supporting teachers, helping students recover lost learning, and investing in our public schools. Instead, this bill pushes calculated, conspiracy-laden politics into public education.”
