Today, Deputy Secretary Don Graves met with Vice Minister for International Affairs Hirose Naoshi of Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) to discuss the U.S.-Japan commercial and industrial relationship. During their meeting, the Deputy Secretary and the Vice Minister discussed bilateral cooperation on strengthening collective supply chain resilience and achieving prosperity and maintaining a free and fair economic order. The Deputy Secretary also expressed the Department’s appreciation for its collaboration with METI on cooperative efforts in digital and advanced technologies. Additionally, both discussed collaborating to tackle climate change and create green growth and engaging with other like-minded partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
