OCOTILLO, Calif. – U.S. Border Patrol agents from El Centro Sector rescued two undocumented individuals in the Jacumba Wilderness region Friday morning. 

The incident occurred at approximately 6 a.m., when El Centro Sector Dispatch notified agents working in the field of a distress call regarding two undocumented individuals who were lost in the mountains near Ocotillo.

Agents responded and began the search for the individuals using the last known GPS coordinates of the phone call that was provided.  

At approximately 7:08 a.m., agents located the two lost men, both Mexican nationals, four miles north of the U.S./Mexico border. Agents conducted welfare checks of the individuals and safely escorted them back to the vehicle. Both men were apprehended and transported to the El Centro Sector Processing Center to be medically evaluated.

U.S. Border Patrol will process the undocumented individuals accordingly.

Since October, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents have successfully rescued 317 individuals lost or in distress.
