ALBUQUERQUE, NM— Today, Attorney General Hector Balderas announced that Sergei Von Hoyningen-Huene was sentenced to 30 years by Judge Cindy Leos. In May of 2021, Von Hoyningen-Huene pleaded guilty to three counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Child (Manufacture) and  one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Child (Possession). In July 2020, Albuquerque Police Department investigators, acting on a cybertip that located child exploitation materials, conducted a search warrant of Von Hoyningen-Huene’s Albuquerque residence, where they found and seized multiple images and videos of child sexual exploitation contained on phones, laptops, and hard drives. At the time, Von Hoyningen-Huene was a medical student at the University of New Mexico as well as a commissioned officer with the United States Navy.
