Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III spoke with Ukrainian Minister of Defence Oleksii Reznikov in advance of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG) in Brussels, Belgium. 

Secretary Austin updated Minister Reznikov on U.S. security assistance efforts, including U.S. commitments to Ukraine’s Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS), artillery, and coastal defense capabilities. 

The leaders exchanged perspectives on the future of U.S. and Allied assistance to Ukraine through the UDCG format.  Minister Reznikov also provided an update on battlefield conditions in light of Russia’s continued campaign to seize territory in the Donbas.
