The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for UN Secretary-General António Guterres:

The Secretary-General strongly condemns the attack on 29 July at the Kabul International Cricket Stadium in Afghanistan, which resulted in several casualties, and according to preliminary reports, loss of life.

He extends his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a swift recovery to those injured.  He reiterates that attacks against civilians and civilian objects are strictly prohibited under international humanitarian law.
