Dow Jones Transporation Average, ticker DJTA, also referred to as the “Dow Jones Transport” is a stock market index made up of 20 stocks from the “transporation” sector. It is the oldest stock index in use, dating back to July 3, 1884, and yes, is older than the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
It was created by Charles Dow, whom was the co-founder of Dow Jones & Company.
