The average 30-year fixed mortgage reached 7.17% Monday, according to Mortgage News Daily data reported by MarketWatch, a 20-month high and up 23 basis points from the previous Tuesday. Other mortgage-rate measures differ somewhat because surveys use different methodologies, borrowers, and timing.
