The changes are real, but they are not a sweeping rewrite of U.S. bankruptcy law. The U.S. Supreme Court adopted amendments to the Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure on April 8 and ordered them to take effect Dec. 1, 2026, unless Congress intervenes.
